Cowboys-Lions shapes up strength-vs-strength test in Week 7

The Dallas Cowboys (4-2) will host the Detroit Lions (1-4) on Sunday as both teams look to bounce back from losses in their previous game.

The Cowboys four-game winning streak was snapped by the Philadelphia Eagles,

but they have major reinforcements returning this week with quarterback Dak Prescott and tight end Dalton Schultz expected to return.

That could present a major injection of energy into an offense that has not been able to cross

the 25 point threshold this season, averaging just 18.3 points per game, 23rd overall.

The Lions have been explosive this season, averaging 28 points per game, third-most in the league.

However, they have struggled to shut down opposing offenses and allow 34 PPG,

Each week we open up the Advanced Stat Notebook to analyze how each team ranks in EPA,

DVOA, ANY/A and Toxic Differential. These four key metrics have a high correlation to win probability

With DVOA, teams are looking for a higher percentage offensively and a lower percentage defensively.

On offense and special teams, the objective is to perform above league average while defenses are looking to force their opponents to perform below league average.
